trouble started when the driver of the cab insisted his documents were up to date and so he would not give Corporal Alonge any bribe. The infuriated cop then opened fire on the cab.
The incident resulted in pandemonium and Alonge took to his heels and was shielded by his colleagues who came to his rescue when a mob wanted to lynch him.
The mob reportedly attacked the Ijapo police post where Corporal Alonge sought refuge.
Mobile policemen later brought the situation under control after shooting in the air to disperse the angry youths.
